Date And Nut Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 c shortening
• 2 c brown sugar
• 2 eggs well beaten
• 2 Tbsp cream or milk
• 3 12 c sifted flour
• 1 tsp cream of tartar
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 c dates chopped
• 1 c nuts chopped
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

1. Sift flour with soda and cream of tartar
2. Cream shortening and sugar
3. Add eggs and cream or milk
4. Add dry ingredients dates nuts and flavoring mix thoroughly
5. Form into a loaf Chill overnight
6. Next day slice thin and bake on well-greased baking sheet at 400 for 10 minutes or until delicately browned
