Date Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 c butter
• 2 c sugar
• 3 eggs
• 1 tsp soda
• 2 tsp water
• 1 8 oz pkg sugar coated dates
• 3 c flour
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp nutmeg
• 14 tsp cloves
• dash of salt
• 2 c chopped pecans

Directions

1. Cream butter and sugar
2. Add eggs one at a time
3. Mix baking soda with water until dissolved
4. Add to creamed mixture
5. Sift flour with spices and salt
6. Add to creamed mixture
7. Mix well Add chopped dates and pecans
8. Batter will be stiff
9. Refrigerate overnight for easier handling
10. To bake form into balls and flatten with rolling pin
11. Sprinkle top with sugar
12. Bake at 350 until light brown
