Date Nut Bread
Ingredients
- 34 c chopped nuts
- 1 c dates chopped
- 1 12 tsp baking soda
- 12 tsp salt
- 14 c margarine
- 34 c boiling water
- 2 eggs
- 12 tsp vanilla
- 1 c sugar
- 1 12 c sifted flour
Directions
- Combine nuts dates soda and salt in bowl
- Add shortening and boiling water allow to stand 15 minutes
- Stir to blend Beat eggs slightly and add to date mixture
- Do not overmix Place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan
- Bake for 1 hour or until done at 350
- Turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling after it has been in pan about an hour
