Deer Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground deer meat
  • 1 16 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 4 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • red pepper to taste optional
  • 2 c water

Directions

  1. Mix meat and chopped onion and place in open Dutch oven or large skillet
  2. Place over high heat and stir constantly until meat is thoroughly browned and onions are tender
  3. Reduce heat and stir in flour thoroughly
  4. Stir in all remaining ingredients and turn heat very low
  5. Cover and simmer for 1 hour stirring only occasionally
  6. When serving you may add grated Cheddar cheese to hot chili
  7. You may need to add additional water while chili is simmering
