DevilS Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 34 c butter or margarine softened
  • 1 12 c sugar
  • 1 12 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 34 c unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 12 c Hersheys cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 12 c buttermilk or sour milk
  • 12 c boiling water

Directions

  1. Cream butter sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy
  2. Add eggs beat well
  3. Combine flour cocoa baking soda and salt add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture
  4. Add boiling water beat until smooth
  5. Pour into waxed paper-lined 13 x 9-inch pan
  6. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean
  7. Cool 10 minutes remove cake from pan
  8. Cool completely Frost as desired
