DolmathesStuffed Grape Leaves

Ingredients

  • 1 jar grape leaves soaked in warm water drained and set aside
  • 1 12 lb ground chuck or regular hamburger
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 12 c crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp parsley
  • 12 tsp black pepper
  • 12 c Uncle Bens rice
  • juice of 12 lemon
  • 1 stick butter melted

Directions

  1. Mix together ground chuck onion tomatoes salt parsley black pepper rice and lemon
  2. Add to melted butter in pot that you are going to cook in
  3. Take 1 teaspoon of mixture and place in middle of grape leaf fold sides over mixture and bring tip of grape leaf over
  4. Roll tightly and place in pot
  5. As you roll place grape leaves in pot as close together as you can
  6. Continue until all mixture is used
  7. Usually it makes about 2 layers
  8. Add 34 cup water
  9. Invert a plate over Dolmathes
  10. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes
  11. Turn off and let stand for 15 minutes
