DolmathesStuffed Grape Leaves
Ingredients
- 1 jar grape leaves soaked in warm water drained and set aside
- 1 12 lb ground chuck or regular hamburger
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 12 c crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 12 tsp parsley
- 12 tsp black pepper
- 12 c Uncle Bens rice
- juice of 12 lemon
- 1 stick butter melted
Directions
- Mix together ground chuck onion tomatoes salt parsley black pepper rice and lemon
- Add to melted butter in pot that you are going to cook in
- Take 1 teaspoon of mixture and place in middle of grape leaf fold sides over mixture and bring tip of grape leaf over
- Roll tightly and place in pot
- As you roll place grape leaves in pot as close together as you can
- Continue until all mixture is used
- Usually it makes about 2 layers
- Add 34 cup water
- Invert a plate over Dolmathes
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes
- Turn off and let stand for 15 minutes
