Doughnuts
Ingredients
- 2 c milk
- 14 tsp salt
- 3 eggs beaten
- 14 c melted butter
- 1 yeast cake dissolved in warm water
- 1 c sugar
- 6 or 7 c flour
- 12 tsp nutmeg
Directions
- Scald the milk and set aside to cool
- To the dissolved yeast add 12 cup of flour and mix to batter
- Add to the milk which has been scalded and allowed to become lukewarm
- Stir in 1 teaspoon sugar and about 3 cups flour
- Set in warm place to rise overnight
- In the morning add the eggs nutmeg butter sugar and salt mix thoroughly
- Stir enough flour until batter can no longer be stirred with a spoon
- Set aside to rise
- Roll on well floured board and cut with doughnut cutter
- Let rise again and fry until golden brown
