Dutch Rusk
Ingredients
- 14 c melted lard
- 1 12 qt warm water
- 1 c sugar
- 14 c salt
- 2 pkg dry yeast prepared in water-sugar mix
- 3 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- flour to make nice dough
Directions
- Mix first 4 ingredients then add flour to thicken slightly Add the next 3 ingredients and mix
- Add flour until right for punching
- Lard sides of pan
- Knead a few minutes more
- Let rise 2 times
- Make into large 3-inch buns
- Let raise
- Bake at 350 and let cool
- Slice each bun in 2 or 3 slices
- Dry in low oven until crisp
