Easter BreadCutzuppi
Ingredients
- 2 to 3 c flour
- 14 c sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 23 c milk
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 2 Tbsp margarine
- 3 Tbsp anise seed
- 3 tsp anise extract
- raw eggs colored
Directions
- In a bowl mix 1 cup flour sugar salt and dry yeast
- In a saucepan mix milk and margarine
- Heat milk enough until margarine is slightly melted
- Gradually add to dry mix and stir well
- Add both eggs and 12 cup flour
- Add seed and extract
- Make thick smooth batter
- Gradually add flour to make a soft dough
- Turn onto lightly floured table
- Knead well
- Place in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm place until size doubles about 1 hour Punch down
- Divide dough in 2 Shape - eg cross
- Place a colored egg on top as decoration
