English Muffin Bread

Ingredients

  • 5 12 to 6 c flour measure by spooning flour lightly into cup
  • 2 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 14 tsp baking soda
  • 2 c milk
  • 12 c water
  • Cornmeal

Directions

  1. Combine 3 cups flour yeast sugar salt and baking soda
  2. Heat liquids until very warm 120-130 degrees F
  3. Add to dry mixture beat well
  4. Stir in enough flour to make a stiff batter
  5. Spoon into 2 8 12 x 4 12 pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal
  6. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal
  7. Cover and let rise in warm place for 45 minutes
  8. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes Remove from pans immediately and cool on racks
