English Taffy Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 c butter or margarine
- 1 c sugar
- yolk of 1 egg save the white
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 c flour plain
- 1 c chopped pecans
Directions
- Cream together butter or margarine and sugar
- Add egg yolk and vanilla
- Add flour mix well
- Usually I wash hands very well then mix dough with your hands it is easier
- Grease a cookie sheet large and pat dough very thin
- Whip the egg white with a fork until frothy
- Spread on top of dough with your hand Sprinkle with 1 cup chopped pecans
- Pat slightly to press pecans down a little
- Bake at 300 for approximately 40 to 45 minutes Cut at once in squares or rectangles
- This recipe is great at Christmas
