English Taffy Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter or margarine
  • 1 c sugar
  • yolk of 1 egg save the white
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 c flour plain
  • 1 c chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Cream together butter or margarine and sugar
  2. Add egg yolk and vanilla
  3. Add flour mix well
  4. Usually I wash hands very well then mix dough with your hands it is easier
  5. Grease a cookie sheet large and pat dough very thin
  6. Whip the egg white with a fork until frothy
  7. Spread on top of dough with your hand Sprinkle with 1 cup chopped pecans
  8. Pat slightly to press pecans down a little
  9. Bake at 300 for approximately 40 to 45 minutes Cut at once in squares or rectangles
  10. This recipe is great at Christmas
