Eva St ClairS Orange Cake Squares
Ingredients
- 12 c shortening
- 1 13 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c milk
- 1 tsp orange extract
- 1 tsp grated orange rind
- 2 c all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 14 tsp salt
- Orange Glaze
Directions
- Cream shortening gradually add sugar mixing well
- Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition
- Combine milk extract and orange rind set aside
- Combine flour baking powder and salt add to creamed mixture alternately with milk mixture beginning and ending with flour mixture
- Beat 3 minutes on medium speed of an electric mixer
- Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan
- Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean
- Pour Orange Glaze over warm cake spreading evenly
- Cut cake into squares to serve Yield
- 15 to 18 servings
