Excellent Beef Casserole

Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 Tsp salt
- 12 tsp pepper
- 2 lb boneless round steak cut into cubes
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 c water
- 14 oz can beef broth
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 Tbsp dried minced onion
- 12 tsp thyme
- 14 tsp crushed dried rosemary
- 2 c sliced fresh mushrooms or canned
- 2 c frozen peas thawed or 1 can whole kernel corn drained
- 3 c mashed potatoes mashed with milk butter
- 1 Tbsp buttermargarine melted
- Paprika
Directions
- In a large resealable bag combine flour salt pepper
- add beef cubes and shake to coat
- In a skillet over medium heat brown the beef in oil
- Place beef and dripping in a greased shallow 2 12 qt baking dish
- To skillet add water broth garlic onion thyme and rosemary bring to a boil Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes
- Stir in mushrooms
- Pour over meat
- mix well
- Cover and bake at 350 for 1 12 to 1 34 hours or until beef is tender
- Sprinkle corn or peas over meat
- Spread potatoes evenly over top
- Brush with butter
- sprinkle with paprika
- Bake 15-20 minutes longer
- Yield 6-8 servings
- Great with homemade dinner rolls and a salad
