Favorite Fishermans Chowder
Ingredients
- 1 12 lb fresh or frozen halibut fillets
- 12 medium onions whole
- 4 to 5 medium potatoes chopped
- 14 c butter or margarine
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 4 tsp salt
- 12 tsp pepper
- 3 c boiling water
- 1 qt milk scalded
- 1 c light cream
- 1 ripe tomato optional
Directions
- Cut fillets into 2 to 3 pieces
- In heavy skillet saute onions in 14 cup butter until golden brown about 20 minutes Add potatoes salt pepper and boiling water
- Arrange fish fillets on top
- Cover and simmer about 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender
- Add scalded milk light cream and 3 tablespoons butter
- Heat until very hot
- Slice tomato and float on top of chowder
