Featherbed Rolls
Ingredients
- 12 c shortening
- 2 c milk scalded and cooled
- 2 pkg yeast
- 12 c lukewarm water
- 13 to 12 c sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 6 to 7 c flour
Directions
- Add shortening to milk while milk is still hot
- When milk has cooled dissolve yeast in water and add to milk
- Add sugar salt eggs and flour
- Mix well and let stand in bowl for 20 minutes Knead for a minute or two
- Shape into rolls and let rise until doubled in size
- Bake in hot oven 425 until golden brown about 20 minutes
- Brush with butter after removing from oven Makes 3 dozen
