Five-Star Soup

Ingredients

• 1 pkg 1 lb dried large white navy beans
• 6 c boiling water
• 1 shank end fully cooked ham about 3 lb
• 4 c shredded cabbage about 1 lb
• 2 c thinly sliced carrots about 7 medium
• 1 large onion chopped 1 c
• 1 c chopped celery
• 1 clove garlic minced
• 1 12 oz pkg smoked sausage links sliced thin
• 1 can about 1 lb tomatoes
• 1 tsp salt
• 12 tsp pepper
• 1 c elbow macaroni half an 8 oz pkg

2. Pick over beans rinse and place in a large bowl Pour the boiling water over cover and let stand 1 hour
