Flaming Pears

Flaming Pears

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz can sliced pears
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 12 c packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 14 c rum
  • ground cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream
  • red grapes and lime wedges optional

Directions

  1. Toss the pears in the lime juice
  2. Set aside in a medium skillet
  3. Heat the brown sugar and butter or margarine
  4. Stir in half of the rum
  5. Stir in pear slices
  6. Cook until pears are heated through for about 1 minute
  7. Transfer pear slices to a serving dish
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon
  9. Pour remaining rum to skillet
  10. Heat over low heat until hot
  11. Remove from heat
  12. Ignite rum and pour over pears
  13. Serve over ice cream
  14. Garnish with grapes and lime slices
