French Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 lb green or yellow split peas
- 2 onions chopped
- 6 c water
- 4 carrots sliced
- 2 stalks celery diced
Directions
- Wash peas and put in 6-quart pot
- Add 6 cups water and 2 onions
- Cook on low heat for 45 minutes
- Add carrots and celery Cook for an additional 30 minutes on low heat continuing to be sure it remains boiling
- Serves 4 to 6
