Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients
- 5 medium green tomatoes
- 34 c yellow cornmeal
- 14 c flour
- 2 tsp salt
- few dashes of pepper
- vegetable oil
Directions
- Cut tomatoes into 12-inch slices
- Mix cornmeal flour salt and pepper dip both sides of tomato slices into mixture
- Heat oil in a skillet until sizzling hot
- Put in tomatoes and cook quickly until browned on underside
- Turn tomatoes carefully reduce heat and cook until thoroughly hot and soft through center Remove to paper towels to drain
- Makes 4 servings
