German-Style Red Cabbage

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp butter or margarine
- 3 Granny Smith apples thinly sliced
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 small red cabbage shredded 1-34 lb
- 13 c white vinegar
- 12 c firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 14 tsp pepper
- 13 c dry red wine
Directions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat add apple and onion and saute for 5 minutes
- Add cabbage and vinegar
- Sir together sugar and next 3 ingredients sprinkle over cabbage
- Add wine cover reduce heat and simmer stirring often 35 minutes Yield
- 6 servings
