German-Style Sauerkraut Kugel

Ingredients
- 1 medium head cabbage
- 3 Tbsp oil original fat or drippings
- 4 slices white bread
- 12 c flour
- 14 c chopped candied peel orange grapefruit citron are fine
- 12 c chopped almonds
- 12 tsp salt
- 18 tsp each cinnamon nutmeg and allspice
- juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
- 6 eggs
- 12 c packed dark brown sugar
- 12 c seedless raisins
Directions
- Discard outer cabbage leaves
- Wash rest and chop or shred fine
- Saute in oilfat until browned
- Soak bread in water squeeze thoroughly and mix with cabbage
- Put in a large mixing bowl
- Add rest of ingredients blending well
- Grease a 10-inch tube pan well pour in mix and bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until firm
