German Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Bakers Germans sweet chocolate
- 12 c boiling water
- 2 sticks margarine
- 4 egg yolks unbeaten
- 12 tsp salt
- 1 c milk with 2 Tbsp vinegar set until sour
- 1 12 c sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 12 c flour
- 4 egg whites beaten
Directions
- Boil water add chocolate and cool
- Beat egg whites until fluffy
- Cream margarine and sugar
- Add egg yolks
- Add melted chocolate and vanilla
- Mix well
- Sift salt soda and flour together
- Add alternately with milk and vinegar mixture to chocolate mixture
- Beat until smooth
- Fold in beaten egg whites Pour in 2 9-inch cake pans
- Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
- When cool cut layers in half
- Frost each layer and sides with Coconut Pecan Frosting
