German Cookies

Ingredients
- 34 c sugar
- 34 c shortening
- 1 c sorghum molasses
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 to 5 c flour
- 2 tsp ginger
- 3 tsp soda
- 12 tsp salt
Directions
- Mix all ingredients
- Let chill overnight
- Shape in balls size of walnuts
- Press with fork to make cross
- Bake in moderate oven 10 to 12 minutes
- They are best if not cooked too done
- Take them out so that they will fall when taken out of the oven
- The dough will keep in refrigerator for days
