German Fruit Cake
Ingredients
- 34 c butter or margarine
- 2 c sugar
- 3 c flour
- 23 c each cherry apricot and pineapple preserves
- 12 tsp nutmeg
- 1 c buttermilk
- 1 c pecans if desired
- 12 tsp vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 12 tsp allspice
- 12 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp soda
Directions
- Cream together butter sugar and eggs
- Sift together flour and spices
- Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk to which the soda has been added
- Fold in gently the preserves vanilla and nuts
- Pour into a greased and floured angel food cake pan
- Bake for 1 12 hours or until done at 325
- Cool for 15 minutes after it is removed from oven
