German Fruit Cake

Ingredients

  • 34 c butter or margarine
  • 2 c sugar
  • 3 c flour
  • 23 c each cherry apricot and pineapple preserves
  • 12 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1 c pecans if desired
  • 12 tsp vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 12 tsp allspice
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp soda

Directions

  1. Cream together butter sugar and eggs
  2. Sift together flour and spices
  3. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk to which the soda has been added
  4. Fold in gently the preserves vanilla and nuts
  5. Pour into a greased and floured angel food cake pan
  6. Bake for 1 12 hours or until done at 325
  7. Cool for 15 minutes after it is removed from oven
