German Kuchen

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pie filling cherry or blueberry
  • 2 c flour
  • 3 eggs well beaten
  • 1 c shortening use 12 c Crisco and 12 c butter for flavor
  • 1 12 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 18 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Cream shortening add sugar beaten eggs flour salt and vanilla
  2. Spread into a 9 x 12-inch greased pan
  3. Reserve 1 cup batter for top
  4. After spreading the portion of batter in bottom of pan spoon pie filling on batter
  5. Drop the rest of the batter on top of filling not completely covering it
  6. When baked fruit will ooze up through batter
  7. Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes
  8. Bake at 325 if using glass dish
