Gingersnap Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 c sugar
  • 34 c shortening
  • 14 c molasses
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 14 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 14 tsp salt

Directions

  1. In large bowl beat together sugar and shortening add molasses
  2. Mix well
  3. Add beaten egg
  4. Stir together all remaining ingredients
  5. Mix into molasses mixture until thoroughly combined Cover and chill at least 1 hour or overnight
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls then place balls into granulated
  7. sugar
  8. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet
  9. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes
