GrandmaS Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 34 c shortening
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 14 c molasses
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 12 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 tsp salt
  • additional sugar

Directions

  1. In large mixing bowl cream shortening and sugar
  2. Beat in egg and molasses
  3. Combine flour soda spices and salt
  4. Gradually add to creamed mixture
  5. Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into balls
  6. Dip one side of each ball in sugar place with sugar side up on greased baking sheet
  7. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown and crinkly
  8. Makes 3 to 4 dozen
