GrandmotherS Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg yeast
  • 12 c warm water
  • 1 14 c boiling water
  • 1 c oatmeal
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 12 c molasses
  • 13 c shortening
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 6 to 6 14 c flour

Directions

  1. Soften yeast combine next 5 ingredients
  2. Cool
  3. Stir in 2 cups flour beat
  4. Add eggs and yeast flour to make soft
  5. Rest for 10 minutes knead
  6. Let rise until double in bulk
  7. Divide in 12 or make into rolls
  8. Bake at 370 for 35 minutes
  9. I let it rise twice before I put it into pans kneading it again
