Grape Conserve
Ingredients
- 12 peck Concord grapes
- 2 oranges juice and grated rind
- 2 lemons juice and grated rind
- 1 c chopped walnuts
- 12 tsp salt
- sugar
Directions
- Wash the fruit remove grapes from stems
- Remove skins from pulp
- Cook pulp until soft strain to remove seeds
- Place the skins and strained pulp into a preserving kettle
- Extract the juice from oranges and lemons add juices and rind to the grape mixture and cook about 1 hour
- Measure the sugar and grape mixture to equal amounts
- Add nuts and salt
- Continue to cook until thick
- Pour into sterilized jars
- Cool and pour melted wax on top
