Great GrandmotherS Hoe-DownsSugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 c butter
• 1 12 c sugar
• 2 eggs
• 6 Tbsp sour milk
• 14 tsp lemon extract
• 1 tsp soda
• 12 tsp baking powder
• 12 tsp nutmeg freshly grated is best
• 4 c unsifted flour

Directions

1. Cream butter and sugar together
2. Add eggs sour milk and lemon extract beat after each addition
3. Sift soda baking powder nutmeg and flour together
4. Chill dough 30 minutes Flour hands
5. Roll a portion of dough small egg size
6. Dip or roll in a bowl of sugar
7. Flatten with two fingers
8. Place 2 or 3 raisins in center
9. Bake until light brown
