Ingredients

  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 qt water
  • 1 lb tomatoes peeled and chopped
  • 2 lb cabbage shredded
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp minced parsley

  7. Mix

  10. tomatoes cabbage salt and pepper Bring
  11. to

  13. boil again and cook over low heat 1 14 hours or until cabbage is tender
  14. Taste for seasoning
  15. Stir in
  16. the parsley
  17. Serve with sauteed bread
  18. Beef bone or ham bone
  19. or chunks
  20. may be added for richer taste

  22. good if served with melted Gruyere or Mozzarella cheese on top with toasted croutons
