Green Beans Supreme
Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen French-style green beans
- 1 small onion sliced
- 1 Tbsp snipped parsley
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 12 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
- 12 c milk
- 1 c sour cream
- 12 c shredded American cheese
- 14 c fine bread crumbs
Directions
- Cook green beans drain
- Cook onion and parsley in butter until onion is tender
- Blend in flour lemon peel 12 teaspoon salt and dash of pepper
- Add milk cook and stir until thickened and bubbly
- Stir in sour cream and cooked beans heat until just bubbly
- Spoon into 1-quart casserole
- Sprinkle with cheese
- Melt the remaining butter toss with bread crumbs and sprinkle over beans
- Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat until cheese melts and crumbs brown 1 to 2 minutes
