Green Mountain Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 34 c shortening
  • 1 c sugar
  • 14 c molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger

Directions

  1. Cream shortening in bowl
  2. Add sugar molasses and egg
  3. Mix thoroughly
  4. Sift remaining ingredients together
  5. Stir into creamed mixture
  6. Roll into small balls dip in additional sugar Place 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet
  7. Bake at 375 preheated for 10 minutes
  8. They will still be soft when you take them out
  9. They firm as they cool
  10. Makes about 5 dozen
