Green Tomato Chow Chow
Ingredients
- 1 peck green tomatoes
- 2 qt vinegar
- 1 qt sugar
- 2 Tbsp dry mustard
- 5 onions peeled and chopped
- 2 Tbsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp pickling spice
- 2 tsp ground cloves
- 2 Tbsp plain salt
- green hot pepper to taste optional
Directions
- Peel and chop tomatoes
- Place in a large pot
- Add all other ingredients
- Bring to boil
- Cook about 10 minutes or until tomatoes and onions are tender
- Stir frequently so mixture does not scorch
- Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal
- Makes 12 pints
