Gumdrop Cake
Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 2 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 c flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 12 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 12 tsp salt
- 1 lb gumdrops cut up
- 1 lb white raisins
- 1 c chopped nuts
- 1 12 c applesauce
Directions
- Cream first 4 ingredients and set aside
- Sift together dry ingredients
- Stir gumdrops raisins and nuts into flour mixture Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternating with applesauce Beat well after each addition
- Pour batter into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan lined with triple layers of waxed paper
- Bake in 350 oven for 1 hour or until it tests done
- Let set in pan for 30 minutes Cool thoroughly and store in foil
- Makes one 5-pound cake
