Hamburger-Country Style Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • salt to taste
  • 14 c flour
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp plain flour
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp melted shortening
  • 2 c water

Directions

  1. Mix meat 3 to 4 tablespoons flour and salt shape into patties
  2. Roll each patty with rolling pin on floured board about 14-inch thick
  3. Brown on both sides in shortening
  4. Remove meat and pour off all but 2 to 3 tablespoons fat in pan
  5. Add 14 cup flour and allow to brown
  6. Stir occasionally
  7. Add water and cook until thickened
  8. Layer meat and gravy in casserole dish
  9. Cover and bake at 350 for 30 to 45 minutes
  10. Serves 5 or 6
