Heavenly Onions

Ingredients
- 2 large Bermuda onions, sliced
- 1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, grated
- 8 slices French bread
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
Directions
- Simmer onions in butter in heavy pan on low until tender and separated.
- Stir constantly.
- Place in a 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with pepper; top with cheese.
- Heat soup, milk and soy sauce until blended.
- Pour soup mixture over all; stir gently. Butter bread slices on both sides and top casserole, overlapping the slices.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
