Home Baked Beans
Ingredients
- 2 c dry navy beans
- 14 lb sliced fat salt pork
- 1 12 tsp salt
- 12 tsp dry mustard
- 2 Tbsp molasses
- 1 small onion
- 14 c sugar brown or white
Directions
- Wash beans cover with water and soak overnight
- Next morning cook slowly until skins burst or until just tender Drain reserving liquid
- Place half the beans in the bean pot or casserole
- Bury part of pork in the beans and half of combined remaining ingredients
- Add remaining beans and seasonings
- Place remaining salt pork over top
- Cover with bean liquid and bake in 250 to 300 oven between 6 to 8 hours
- Serves 6 to 8 people
