Hot Cross BunsA Family Tradition On Good Friday
Ingredients
- 23 c sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 pkg dry yeast
- 1 12 c flour
- 1 12 c milk
- 12 c butter
- 1 egg
- 1 c flour
- 1 c raisins
- 2 to 2 12 c flour
Directions
- Combine sugar salt yeast and flour in large bowl
- In 1-quart saucepan over low heat heat milk and butter until very warm 120 to 130
- With mixer at low speed beat liquid into dry ingredients until blended
- Increase speed to medium beat 2 minutes
- Beat in egg and 1 cup flour to make a thick batter continue beating 2 minutes scraping bowl often
- Stir in raisins and flour to make a soft dough
