Hot Pretzels

Hot Pretzels

Ingredients

  • 18 c hot water
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 5 c flour
  • 1 13 c warm water
  • 13 c brown sugar
  • extra flour
  • coarse kosher salt
  • baking soda

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 475
  2. Grease cookie sheet
  3. In a large bowl mix the hot water and yeast
  4. Add water warm and sugar slowly
  5. Add 5 cups flour
  6. Stir until smooth not sticking to sides knead it
  7. Form dough into golf ball size balls and shape each into pretzels
  8. Fill a frying pan with water
  9. For each cup of water used add 1 tablespoon baking soda
  10. Place pretzels in gently boiling water for 30 seconds
  11. Take out of the water and place on cookie sheet
  12. Salt pretzels
  13. Bake for 8 minutes until golden brown
  14. Can be frozen before baking
