Hot Spiced Wassail

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. apple cider
  • 1 qt. cranberry juice
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. orange juice
  • 16 whole cloves (if small, add a few more)
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice or 1 tsp. powdered
  • 1 (6-inch) stick cinnamon, broken

Directions

  1. Combine cider, cranberry juice, orange juice and sugar in a large cooking pan.
  2. Tie spices in a cheesecloth bag.
  3. Simmer all over low heat for about 1/2 hour; leave spices in until next morning.
  4. This may be put into a crock-pot on low heat to keep warm while serving.
