Hot Stew

Ingredients

  • 2 lb stew meat
  • small head cabbage chopped
  • 5 small onions chopped
  • 12 pkg frozen okra pieces
  • 2 cans mixed vegetables
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 1 can Northern beans
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • 5 small potatoes chopped
  • 1 to 3 small hot peppers
  • 1 tsp red Italian pepper buds peppers and pepper buds adjusted to taste

Directions

  1. Brown meat until tender add cabbage onions and okra and simmer until tender
  2. Add remaining vegetables and spices except for peppers and pepper buds
  3. Simmer for two hours add peppers and pepper buds about 14 hour before serving
  4. Remove peppers before serving
  5. Serve with hot crusty French bread on a cold winter night
  6. This dish improves with re-heating
