Hungarian Goulash

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp buttermargarine
  • 6 medium onions thin sliced
  • 2 lb beef stew cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 14 c paprika
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 c sour cream

Directions

  1. In Dutch oven over medium-high heat in hot butter cook onions stirring occasionally until lightly browned about 15 minutes Add stew meat paprika salt and bay leaf
  2. Reduce heat to low cover and simmer 3 hours or until meat is fork-tender stirring occasionally
  3. Discard bay leaf
  4. Stir in sour cream
  5. Serve over noodles
  6. Makes 6 servings
