Hungarian Poppy Seed Nut Slices

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter
  • 1 egg
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • 12 tsp poppy seed
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 12 c almonds chopped fine
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar add egg
  2. Beat 2 to 3 minutes add nuts and poppy seed
  3. Beat 1 minute
  4. Stir in flour and salt Refrigerate until dough is easily shaped into rolls
  5. Make 2 rolls
  6. Roll in sugar wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours
  7. Cut into 14-inch slices
  8. Bake on ungreased pan at 325 for 20 minutes or until slightly brown
  9. Store in closed tin
