Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 18 c lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 c scalded milk
  • 14 c sugar
  • 1 12 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 12 tsp salt
  • 2 34 c flour

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 18 cup lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon sugar
  2. To scalded milk add 14 cup sugar and shortening
  3. Let stand until warm
  4. Stir in yeast
  5. Add egg and salt beat well Stir in enough flour to make a fairly stiff dough about 2 34 cups
  6. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours
  7. May be refrigerated overnight
  8. Spoon into greased muffin tins and let rise in warm place until double in size
  9. Bake in preheated oven at 425 for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown
