Ingredients

  • 1 medium-size head cabbage
  • 1 medium-size onion
  • 1 34 c sugar divided
  • 34 c vinegar
  • 12 c oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp celery seed

Directions

  1. Shred cabbage place in a large bowl in alternate layers of cabbage and thinly sliced onion rings
  2. Top with 34 cup sugar Bring to boil 1 cup sugar vinegar oil salt dry mustard and celery seed
  3. When mixture boils pour over cabbage
  4. Do not stir Cover let stand overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours
