Italian Wine Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 c Wesson oil
  • 1 c wine Italian red wine
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • couple of whole cloves
  • 14 tsp salt
  • all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Bring all of the ingredients except for the flour to a boil and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes
  2. Cool
  3. Add enough flour until liquid is absorbed and easy to handle
  4. Blendknead until thoroughly smooth
  5. Cut pieces and roll out like strufoli
  6. Should be as thick as your thumb
  7. Shape like a shell by curling on the side of a grater
  8. Place on a lightly greased cooking sheet and bake at 400 until lightly browned
  9. When cooled place in a bowl and mix with honey
  10. Place on a platter
  11. Can be decorated with colored confetti and finely chopped nuts
