Jan Hagel Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c butter
- 2 c flour
- 12 tsp cinnamon
- 1 egg yolk
- 12 tsp almond extract
- almond slices
Directions
- Cream together butter and sugar
- Beat in egg yolk
- Gradually stir in flour and cinnamon Add almond extract
- Press dough thinly into a jelly roll pan or cookie sheet until sheet is completely covered
- Dough will fill 2 cookie sheets
- Beat egg white slightly with a small amount of water enough to thin egg white and make it watery
- Brush egg white mixture thinly over dough to serve as a glaze
- Sprinkle almond slices over dough Bake at 300 for 25 minutes
- Cut cookies into desired size and remove from baking sheet immediately An alternative method is to make cookies with a cookie press
