Kentucky Corn BreadUnsweetened
Ingredients
- 1 12 c corn meal
- 1 12 tsp salt
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 Tbsp flour
- 2 c buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp bacon drippings or melted butter
Directions
- Sift dry ingredients into a bowl
- Add buttermilk and beaten egg
- Stir only enough to moisten dry ingredients
- Heat two 8-inch cast iron skillets in the oven
- Pour enough bacon grease or melted butter in each skillet to moisten and coat them dont put too much in
- Pour half of prepared batter into each skillet Bake at 450 for 20-25 minutes until golden on top
- May use glass baking dish instead of cast iron skillet
