Ingredients

• 1 lb butter room temperature
• 2 c sugar
• 6 eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 8 to 9 c flour
• 2 Tbsp double-acting baking powder
• 1 egg beaten with 1 Tbsp water
• 2 lemon rinds grated

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375
2. Cream butter gradually beating in sugar Beat eggs until light add to butter mixture and beat thoroughly Add vanilla extract
3. Add lemon rinds
4. Sift together flour and baking powder
5. Carefully blend into butter-egg mixture to make soft dough
